Our Story
From humble beginnings in 1880, De Silva & Co has grown into a trusted name built on generations of dedication and hard work.
What started as a grocery business by Louis De Silva in Galle and Ahangama soon found new roots in Hatton, where the foundation of today's legacy was formed. Through the commitment of F. B. Charles De Silva and F. B. Shanthasiri De Silva, the business steadily evolved.
A major milestone came in 1969, with the opening of the first shoe shop—marking the beginning of our journey in footwear.
In 1976, F. B. Udaya De Silva joined the business and transformed it into a growing and successful enterprise. Under his leadership:
1988 – Tyre business was established
1989 – De Silvas Leather Products (DLP) was launched, starting our own shoe manufacturing
Today, De Silva & Co stands as a symbol of quality, trust, and long-standing excellence.
